The best 18th birthday ideas for boys combine two things: an active afternoon with the gang and a party in the evening. First bubble football, go-karting or paintball, then a club, a party boat cruise on the Vistula or a party tram ride around Krakow. The order matters: sport first, toasts later.
We’ve run Bumper Ball games in Krakow for years and help plan the rest of the day too – from a restaurant table to transport. Below are ideas, a sample day plan and a budget with real numbers.

18th birthday ideas for boys – action first, party later
An 18th is often the first ‘grown-up’ party, but it doesn’t have to start at the table. Once the gang has worn itself out, had a laugh and filmed a few clips, the ice is broken and the evening has stories to tell. Playing as a team also brings together friends from different circles – school, the neighbourhood and training.
The other thing is safety. Bubble football, go-karting or a shooting range need a clear head and quick reflexes, so plan the sporty part before the party, never after it.
18th birthday activities – what to choose?
Here are some great 18th birthday activities – from the most active to ones where nobody breaks a sweat. Pick one for the afternoon and keep the evening for the party.
Bubble football match
Bumper Ball, also known as bubble football, is football played in balls that cover you from head to knees. You can collide, fall over and do somersaults, and nobody needs to be good at football – a willingness to run is enough.
The pitch takes 10–12 players at once, and a bigger gang plays a mini tournament. Tall players needn’t worry: besides 10 balls 1.5 m in diameter, we have 2 large 1.7 m balls for players from about 180 cm tall, and the weight limit is 100 kg. The referee picks games to suit the group – from a match through Bubble Sumo and Last Man Standing to bubble rugby.
For an 18th, the VIP hall package (€28/person) works well: besides the hall, you get a game host and referee, souvenir photos, a bottle of water for everyone and a professional warm-up. See the details for bubble football birthday parties in Krakow.
Go-karting
Practice, qualifying, a final and a podium – competition everyone understands. Book the track for your group and agree the format beforehand, so it isn’t just a few random laps.
Paintball or laser tag
Paintball brings more adrenaline (and bruises); laser tag gives similar thrills without the pain. Paintball usually takes place outdoors and laser tag mostly in an indoor arena, so the latter works better in winter. If some of the gang are under 18, ask the venue about its rules for minors.
Escape room
Good for a gang that likes puzzles. With a bigger group, book two rooms at the same time and race – the losers buy the pizza.
Shooting range
Shooting under an instructor’s eye is a big thrill and doesn’t require fitness. The range’s own rules set the conditions, including for under-18s, so ask about them when booking.
Bowling, pool or climbing – the calmer version
Not every gang wants to crash into each other. Bowling or pool before dinner is relaxed competition for everyone, while a climbing wall with an instructor is a challenge for those who like trying something new.
The evening – a boat, a tram or a club
For the evening, pick something you can’t do at home: a birthday party on a boat cruising the Vistula or a birthday party on a tram rolling around Krakow. If you’d rather go clubbing, we’ll help book a VIP booth, a restaurant table and transport.

How to organise an 18th birthday step by step
The most stressful part is fitting several bookings into one day. This order helps you avoid having a table booked but no transport.
- Agree the style of party with the birthday boy. One part or two – sporty and evening? How many people and what budget?
- Draw up the guest list and check ages. Who’s already 18 and who isn’t yet shapes the evening plan.
- Book the activity first, then the evening. Match or track first, then the boat, tram or club – so the times fit.
- Plan a meal between the sport and the party. After an hour of exercise the gang will be starving – eating before the evening is just common sense.
- Sort out getting home. Arrange transport after the party in advance – we can help with that too.
- Think about a keepsake. Photos or a video of the match make a ready-made show for when the cake comes out.
18th birthday day plan – an example
Here’s what a Saturday with bubble football and an evening party could look like. Adjust the times as needed – just leave time between the sport and the party for a meal and a shower.
| Time | Plan |
|---|---|
| 15:00–16:00 | Bubble football: briefing, warm-up and about 45 minutes of play |
| 16:30 | Early dinner or pizza for the whole gang |
| 18:00 | Break to shower and change |
| 20:00 | Evening party: boat, tram or club |
| after midnight | Transport home |
How much does an 18th with an activity cost?
The budget is easiest to work out per head. Bubble football costs €17/person without a hall, €22/person with a hall and €28/person for the VIP package – for 12 players that’s €204, €264 and €336 respectively. You can add photo coverage (€34, 20–25 photos plus a group photo) or a short HD video (€78) to show at the party in the evening.
Boat and tram party prices are on the Boat Party and Tram Party websites; we price transport and catering individually. Agree early who pays for what: the parents, the birthday boy, or the gang chipping in for the activity as a present. All our prices are in the bubble football price list.
What if some of the gang aren’t 18 yet?
Classmates turn 18 in different months, so an 18th often includes guests who are still minors. Polish law is clear here: it bans selling or serving alcohol to anyone under 18 (Article 15 of the Polish Act on Upbringing in Sobriety and Counteracting Alcoholism), and plying a minor with alcohol is a criminal offence (Article 208 of the Polish Criminal Code).
The good news: the sporty part brings everyone together, because 17- and 18-year-olds play bubble football side by side. Plan the evening so underage guests have their own option too – soft drinks and earlier transport home – and their parents know the plan.
Surprise or plan it together?
Turning 18 means stepping into adulthood, so the birthday boy has every right to a say in his party. A surprise can still work if his closest mates organise it: all it takes is an excuse for him to bring his sports kit and a parent in on the secret who keeps an eye on the calendar.
The same formula – action in the afternoon, party in the evening – suits adults’ milestone birthdays too: see 30th and 40th birthday ideas for him. And for a younger sibling’s party, try our guide to teenage birthday parties in Krakow.

What to remember when booking
For every activity, ask about age, height and weight limits, how long it lasts and exactly what the price includes. For bubble football, come in PE kit – shorts or a tracksuit, a T-shirt and trainers – and bring water in summer. In hot weather, a hall beats playing in full sun at midday.

Frequently asked questions
What can you do for a boy’s 18th birthday besides a party?
Plan an active part of the day: bubble football, go-karting, paintball, laser tag or an escape room. An activity like this brings the gang together and gives you photos before the evening begins.
Can under-18s play bubble football?
Yes – bubble football is for children from age 10 and adults, so 17-year-olds or younger siblings can play alongside the birthday boy. Players need to be about 150 cm tall and weigh up to 100 kg.
How long does a bubble football match last?
A standard booking is one hour of balls and venue, about 45 minutes of it actual play. You can extend it by 30 minutes.
Can you go straight from the match to the party?
Yes, that’s the best order: game first, party second. Just leave time for a shower and a change – PE kit doesn’t look great in photos from the club.
