The best outdoor birthday party ideas get the whole crowd moving, not just the birthday boy or girl – and that’s exactly what bubble football does. We bring the balls to an Orlik (one of the free public all-weather pitches built across Poland), a sports field or a big, level lawn, with free delivery within 15 km of Krakow city centre. One condition: the space must be big, flat and soft, so a small garden or paved yard won’t do.
We’ve been running Bumper Ball games in Krakow for years, and we know the ground makes or breaks an outdoor party. Below you’ll find a venue checklist, a sample plan and prices – plus an honest answer on when to move the match indoors.

Which outdoor birthday party ideas work best?
Outdoors, the best games are those where everyone moves at once and nobody waits long for a turn. The classics – treasure trails, races, tug of war, dodgeball – are cheap and simple, but demand plenty of energy and ideas from the adults. Bubble football has the edge: we bring the kit, and one of our team runs the game.
Bumper Ball suits birthdays for children aged 10 and over, teenagers and adults – 18th, 30th and 40th birthdays included. It isn’t for younger children, as 10 is our minimum age. We have 10 balls 1.5 m in diameter (for players from about 150 cm tall) and 2 large 1.7 m balls (from about 180 cm), and the maximum player weight is 100 kg.

What does a bubble football birthday party look like?
We arrive, inflate the balls and, before play, give a briefing on putting the ball on safely. An inflated ball weighs about 10 kg and goes on like a rucksack, with adjustable straps and two hand grips. It covers the player from head to knees, with the legs outside, so you can run and kick normally.
There are 10–12 players on the pitch at once. With more guests, we split them into teams for a mini tournament so everyone plays, not just the fastest. The standard booking is 1 hour of ball hire – about 45 minutes of actual play – and can be extended by 30 minutes.
Add a game host and referee, and the match becomes a whole programme with music from a speaker. The referee picks games to suit the group and enforces the safety rules, and after the match it’s time for Bubble Sumo, Bubble Bowling, Bulldog, Last Man Standing or bubble rugby.
Orlik, grass pitch or big lawn – where should you play?
We play in sports halls or wherever you choose: an Orlik, a sports field or grass. Each has its pluses – and things to check before you book.
Orlik pitch
An Orlik is the most reliable outdoor choice. A typical football pitch in a complex built under the ‘Moje Boisko – Orlik 2012’ (‘My Pitch – Orlik 2012’) programme measures 30 × 62 m (playing area 26 × 56 m) and has artificial turf, with changing rooms and toilets in a building next door – that’s how Krakow’s municipal sports infrastructure authority describes one such complex. So you get a level pitch, a fence and toilets in one go.
Many Orliks are attached to schools, and the rules for using them vary. Ask the site manager whether you can book an hour for a private party with an outside organiser – before sending out the invitations.
Grass pitch
A school, club or neighbourhood pitch with natural grass works too, as long as the turf is level. Before booking, walk the pitch: holes, molehills, stones or anything sticking out are better spotted now than mid-match. Here you usually have to sort out shade and a toilet yourself.
A big lawn in a garden or on a private plot
Your own lawn is the most convenient option, with the barbecue, cake and bathroom right there. But it must be big, flat and clear: no trees, flower beds, swings, trampoline or pond in the playing area. To picture it: 10 balls 1.5 m across in a row take up 15 m – and players also need room to build up speed, collide and roll.

Garden birthday party ideas – when won’t the lawn work?
Bubble football won’t work in every back garden – better to say so before you book than on the day. In a small garden, 10–12 people have no room to build up speed, so they bump into the fence more often than into each other. A paved yard is out too: you need a level, soft surface – grass or artificial turf.
A space won’t work if:
- it’s too small for 10–12 people to run around freely,
- it has a hard or loose surface – paving, tarmac, concrete, gravel,
- it’s noticeably sloped or very uneven,
- there are sharp edges or obstacles in or right next to the playing area: kerbs, posts, benches, trees, wire fencing or garden equipment.
If your garden doesn’t tick these boxes, you needn’t give up on bubble football – just move the match. We work with venues all over Krakow and can find and book a hall; you head home for the cake. Venue checklist: shade, water, toilet and the rest
Before confirming the date, run through this list. It takes five minutes and saves a lot of stress on the day.
- Surface – grass or artificial turf, level, with no holes or stones.
- Space – a clear playing area for 10–12 people running about, with room to spare around it.
- Shade – a tree off the pitch, a parasol or a gazebo where players can rest between games.
- Water – ideally a bottle for every player, plus extra in summer.
- Toilet – a given in a garden, less so in a meadow or on a pitch with no facilities.
- Clothes – PE kit: shorts or a tracksuit, a T-shirt and trainers. Put it in the invitation so the guests’ parents know what to pack.
- Plan B – what you’ll do if it’s pouring from the morning or a heatwave is forecast.
Time of day and weather – when should you play outdoors?
In summer, don’t schedule the match for midday in full sun – it gets hot inside a ball fast, and guests flag. Play in the morning or late afternoon instead, with water to hand. Spring and early autumn are the nicest outdoor seasons, as long as the grass isn’t sodden after a downpour.
If the forecast is uncertain or a heatwave is on the way, consider a hall. We play at the Com Com Zone hall (ul. Ptaszyckiego 6, Nowa Huta) and the hall at al. Jana Pawła II 37, and the package with a hall costs €22 per person. In midsummer, a hall is simply a better choice than a baking-hot pitch.
Sample outdoor birthday party plan
Here’s how an afternoon of bubble football on an Orlik or lawn might look. Adjust the times, but put the game before the food, not straight after the cake.

|---|---|
| 15:00 | We arrive and inflate the balls; guests gather |
| 15:15 | Briefing – how to put the ball on safely |
| 15:20 | Team match, then bubble games |
| 16:05 | Game over, water and a group photo |
| 16:15 | Cake, snacks and presents in the shade |
| 17:00 | Quiet games or home time |

How much does an outdoor bubble football birthday cost?
For a match on your lawn or an Orlik, choose the package without a hall, at €17 per person. It includes 10–12 balls, delivery within Krakow, about 45 minutes of actual play and the organiser’s supervision: one of our team brings the balls, inflates them, shows everyone how to put them on and keeps an eye on the game. For 12 players, that’s 12 × €17 = €204.
Delivery is free within 15 km of Krakow city centre; beyond that we charge €0.23/km – and we travel all over Poland. You can add:
- a game host and referee – €34/h (with a speaker for music),
- photo coverage – €34 (20–25 photos + a group photo),
- a short HD video – €78,
- extended play, catering or transport for participants – priced individually.
All our rates are in the bubble football price list, and birthday details on the bubble football birthday parties in Krakow page. We can also price any event individually.

Frequently asked questions
How do you organise an outdoor birthday party?
Start with the venue and date, then choose an activity to suit the guests’ ages, and finally plan the food and a wet-weather option. In the invitation, give the finishing time and say what the children should wear.
Can you play bubble football in a back garden?
Yes, if the lawn is big and level enough for 10–12 players to run around without obstacles. In a typical small garden, stick to garden games and play the match on an Orlik pitch or in a hall.
What if it rains on the day of the party?
If the forecast has been uncertain for several days, it’s safer to book a hall straight away than to trust to luck. Mention it in your enquiry and we’ll help you find one.
Do you bring the balls outside Krakow?
Yes, we travel all over Poland. There’s no delivery charge within 15 km of Krakow city centre, and beyond that we add €0.23 for every extra kilometre.
