The Krakow winter holidays 2027 for kids – ferie zimowe, Poland’s two-week winter school break – run from Monday 15 February to Sunday 28 February. Małopolska (Lesser Poland), Krakow’s region, has the last of the country’s three slots (2027 winter break dates). For children aged 10+, active options work best: an ice rink, a trampoline park, a climbing wall, a pool, museums with workshops and indoor bumper ball with friends. Below are specific ideas and a sample weekly plan.
We’ve run bubble football games in Krakow for years, and we know a 10-year-old can’t be entertained with just anything – especially for two weeks. That’s why we focus on exercise, competing with friends their own age and a little learning along the way.

When are the 2027 winter holidays in Krakow?
In the 2026/2027 school year, Poland’s regions (voivodeships) take the winter break in three rounds: 18–31 January, 1–14 February and 15–28 February 2027. Małopolska, and so Krakow, is in the third round – together with the Lubusz, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Warmian-Masurian, Greater Poland and West Pomeranian voivodeships. The first day back at school is Monday 1 March.
The late slot has an upside: more time to plan. Book popular activities in advance, especially at weekends, and if you want to get classmates together, arrange it before some families head off to the mountains.
Krakow winter holidays 2027 for kids – active ideas for ages 10+
Kids over 10 want more than a soft play centre. They’re after competition, a bit of adrenaline and friends their own age – and parents want the talk after the break to be about more than phone games.
Indoor bumper ball with friends
This one’s for a day with classmates, teammates or friends from the neighbourhood: gather 10–12 people and we’ll bring the balls to the hall. We play at the Com Com Zone hall (ul. Ptaszyckiego 6, Nowa Huta) and the hall at al. Jana Pawła II 37, so February weather doesn’t matter.
We have 10 balls 1.5 m in diameter (for players from about 150 cm tall) and 2 large 1.7 m balls (from about 180 cm). Before the game there’s a briefing on putting the ball on safely, and the referee picks games to suit the group – besides the match there’s Bubble Sumo, Bubble Bowling and Last Man Standing, among others. The package with a hall costs €22 per person; read more on our bumper ball for kids and adults in Krakow page.
Ice rink
Skating is the winter break in its purest form – and for first-timers, a great lesson in patience. Check beforehand whether you can hire skates and a helmet, and take gloves even if it isn’t freezing.
Trampoline park
Jumping, obstacle courses and foam pits burn off more energy in an hour than a whole day at home. Read the rules before you go: age, footwear and adult supervision requirements vary.
Climbing wall
Climbing teaches concentration and rewards every completed route. For beginners, a session with an instructor is best – ask about it when you book.
Swimming pool and water park
Slides and leisure pools are a sure bet on a slushy day. Dry your hair well before going out into the cold.
Laser tag and escape rooms
These suit older children and teenagers who enjoy strategy and teamwork. For escape rooms, check the minimum age and whether an adult must be on the team.
Museums with workshops
At Muzeum Inżynierii i Techniki (the Museum of Engineering and Technology), over 600 historic pieces of technology and interactive experiences await (about the exhibition), and Rynek Podziemny (the underground museum beneath the Main Market Square) has multimedia, touchscreens and medieval units to measure your own height in (about the exhibition). Older children, from age 12, can try a paraglider flight-simulator workshop at Muzeum Lotnictwa Polskiego (the Polish Aviation Museum) (workshops).
A day of sledging or skiing
If you’re dreaming of real snow, plan a trip to the Beskidy mountains or Podhale, the region below the Tatras. It takes a whole day, so it alternates well with days in the city.

A winter-break birthday – a party for 10–12-year-olds
If your child’s birthday falls in February, the break is a good time for a party – nobody has to get up early for school the next day. Invite guests well ahead, as some families go away. Bubble football for 10–12 players is a ready-made plan: briefing, match, games and a final – and with more guests, we’ll play a mini tournament.
You can add photo coverage (€34 – 20–25 photos plus a group photo) or a short HD video (€78) so the birthday child has a keepsake. For more inspiration, see our 12 active birthday ideas for 10–12-year-olds in Krakow.
Winter-break activities in Krakow for groups – day camps, after-school clubs, sports clubs
Running a day camp, school holiday activities or a sports club camp? We’ll bring the balls to your gym or a hall of your choice – delivery is free within 15 km of Krakow city centre, then €0.23/km, and we travel all over Poland. There are 10–12 players on the pitch at once; bigger groups are split into teams for a mini tournament.
We issue VAT invoices to companies and institutions and reply to enquiries within 24 hours. If you need a hall, we work with venues all over Krakow and can find and book one.
A sample week of the winter break
Two weeks are easier to manage when each day has one active slot and one calm one. A sample week could look like this:
| Day | Active | Calm |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | ice rink | cinema or board games at home |
| Day 2 | indoor bumper ball game with friends | Rynek Podziemny |
| Day 3 | trampoline park | museum workshop |
| Day 4 | climbing wall | library or community arts centre |
| Day 5 | sledging or skiing outside the city | film night |
Also check what local community centres, libraries and museums have planned for the break. More winter ideas – for adults too – are in our guide to active things to do in Krakow in winter for groups and families.

How to get your child ready for bubble football
A few simple things help your child focus on the fun from the first minute, not on uncomfortable clothes. Here’s a short list for parents.
- PE kit: shorts or a tracksuit, a T-shirt and trainers. A warm coat is only for the journey.
- Dry shoes: winter boots stay at the entrance; trainers go on the pitch.
- Water: after a few minutes of play, everyone wants a drink.
- Putting the ball on: an inflated ball weighs about 10 kg and goes on like a rucksack, with adjustable straps and two hand grips. It covers the player from head to knees, with legs outside.
- Rules: flips and somersaults look spectacular and are part of the fun – which is why the pre-game briefing and a referee enforcing the safety rules matter so much.
When is bumper ball NOT a good fit?
For younger siblings, trampolines or a pool are better, as bubble football is for children aged 10 and over. It’s most fun with 10–12 people on the pitch, so with three kids, invite classmates or choose another activity. Also remember that the maximum player weight is 100 kg.
